Carolane Soucisse and Shane Firus have been selected to represent Ireland at next month’s ISU World Figure Skating Championships in Montreal, Canada (18-24 March). They will be the first ice dance duo to represent Ireland at the event.
Soucisse and Firus have had a productive 2023/2024 season. In January, they finished 13th at their debut ISU European Figure Skating Championships in Kaunas, Lithuania and earlier this month they picked up a bronze medal at Egna Dance Trophy in Italy.
“Carolane and I feel so privileged to represent Ireland at this coming World Championships,” Firus said. “We really want to make Ireland proud and skate to the best of our abilities.”
“We are aiming for a top 20 finish with the possibility to be as close as possible to the top 15,” Soucisse added. “Hopefully the luck of the Irish will be with us as it is on the same week as Saint Patrick’s Day!”
The ISU World Figure Skating Championships will be streamed live on the Skating ISU YouTube channel.
