Peterson 15th On International Debut At Cranberry Cup International

Allie Peterson has competed internationally for the first time at the Cranberry Cup International in Norwood, United States of America and placed 15th in this weekend’s Junior Women’s event.

Peterson initially took to the ice at the Skating Club of Boston rink in the short programme. She landed a triple Salchow-double toe loop combination to start, but was not able to complete a double Axel attempt and received no points for the element. She recovered quickly and executed the rest of her routine well with highlights including a Level 4 sit spin, a Level 4 step sequence and a Level 4 change foot combination spin. Her score of 43.40 was a new Irish Junior record and put her in 15th place overnight.

The following day saw Peterson perform in the free skating. She attempted a triple toe loop jump to start that unfortunately she fell on. She next went for a triple Salchow and made up for her error in the short by cleanly landing a double Axel. She struggled with a number of the subsequent elements, but managed to include a jump sequence, a jump combination, a choreographic step sequence and a Level 4 flying sit spin. She scored 72.87 points for her free giving her a total of 116.27 points. Both marks represent new Irish Junior records.

Peterson will next compete at the ISU Junior Grand of Figure Skating in Riga, Latvia at the end of this month.
