Medal And Personal Bests For Irish Junior Skaters In Reykjavik
This weekend saw Ireland’s junior figure skating men and ladies champions in action at the Reykjavik International Games in Iceland.
Ciara Hoey posted a new personal best of 26.14 in her short programme, which included a double flip-double toe loop, a double Axel and a double loop. The three-time Irish junior champion completed seven jumping passes in her free skating and scored 44.03. Her combined total of 70.17 was another career high.
Sam McAllister attempted a triple Salchow combination, a triple loop and a double Axel in his short and was given a score of 35.04. The current Irish junior champion went for eight jumping passes in the free and executed two Level 3 spins to receive 70.82. He recorded an overall score of 105.86 which put him in third place.
Update: Due to a disqualifcation following the conclusion of the Junior Men’s event, McAllister was upgraded to second place.
