The ISAI has implemented a test structure designed to reflect the needs and provide challenges to Irish skaters at the various levels of engagement in our sport in Ireland.
The test structure is divided into 3 divisions.
Emerald Skate
This division aims to provide those involved in Learn to Skate programmes with individual skills assessment over 6 Levels of proficiency. It is the foundational development of a skater and provides the skills and elements necessary for progression and enjoyment of skating. Tests are conducted by ISAI sanctioned Judges in a relaxed group format. For more information see Section 500.
FreeStyle Tests
This division aims to provide those individuals who have successfully achieved Emerald Skate Level 6 with the natural progression in each of the various disciplines. Five test levels create the pathway for development providing skaters with choice to engage recreationally or in a more competitive stream. Tests are conducted by ISAI sanctioned Judges in a more formal format with the individual skater. For more information see Section 500.
National Tests
This division aims to provide those individuals who have successfully completed all their FreeStyle tests with a pathway to develop as competitive athletes. The different levels reflect the ISU technical competition criteria and support competition participation both nationally and internationally. Tests are conducted by ISAI sanctioned Judges in a more formal format with the individual skater. For more information see Section 500.
