Golding 17th And McAllister 10th At Egna Spring Trophy

Figure skating national team members Elizabeth Golding and Sam McAllister rounded out their respective seasons this weekend at the Egna Spring Trophy in Egna, Italy.

Golding got off to a great start in the Advanced Novice Ladies event with a new Irish record short programme score of 26.97. Her routine included a double Axel attempt and two Level 3 spins. She stood in 16th place after the first segment of her event.

In the free skating the following day, she began with an attempt at a triple Salchow and a double Axel. She was also awarded Level 3 for two of her spins and her step sequence. She earned a free skating score of 42.11 to give her a total 69.08 for 17th place overall.

McAllister was making his senior international debut in Italy. In the short, he landed a triple Lutz-double toe loop combination and a double Axel. He also attempted a triple flip. He received a score of 50.15 that put him in 9th place going into the free.

The current Irish senior silver medallist landed two triple Lutzes in the free and also attempted a triple flip and a triple Salchow. His flying sit spin was graded Level 4 by the technical panel and he picked up a segment score of 96.43. His combined total of 146.58 meant he finished in 10th place at the end of the competition.
